Sakai Takayuki ”Shiden” Professional Sakimaru Takohiki is made of Ginsan/Silver #3 blade with Handmade Iron Wood Handle by Master Sugihara. Comes with Special Wooden Box.
Desert Ironwood comes from the deserts of the Southwestern United States. Since it is in the sand for a long time, the inner portion is almost hardened into stone, due to its very high density. This gives it a very beautiful brilliance and unique luster. It is known as the King of Wood, because of these characteristics, which is also used for high quality handmade knives throughout the world.
Note: The specific gravity of Desert Ironwood is heavier than Japanese Magnolia Wood, used for ordinary Yanagiba(Sashimi Knives).
