This is a Sakai Takumi Ajimasa Left Handed Deba for Professional use, made of Yasuki White Steel(Shirogami) #2 with Professional Handle,called "Buffalo Horn Handle(Japanese Magnolia Wood Handle & Buffalo Horn Bolster).
Highly recommended for Professionals and Nonprofessionals.
Japanese Traditional Single bevel Knives,such as Deba,Yanagiba,Usuba Knives, etc., are basically designed for Right Handed.
In spite of Left handed users(especially Professionals),they were forced to use normal Right Handed Knives in the past.
For Left handed, the construction of base tang and manufacturing process are completely different. Therefore, Single bevel Left handed costs 30-50% higher than normal ones.
Yasuki White Steel(Shirogami) is a grade type of Japanese High Carbon Steel that have had the majorities of impurities removed.Knives made of Yasuki Steel is known to cut better and to be easier to sharpen.
For Professionals, please sharpen the knife whetstone before you use.Basically the blade already has enough sharpness without sharpening it, but traditionally and generally, Users have adjusted its sharpness by themselves.
